THE BRIEF

To refurbish existing Block 2 Library. Demolition of an existing 9 classroom block – Demolition was done in 2 stages, 5 classrooms demolished in the first stage, separating the 3 classrooms which remained active during construction. Construction of a new 2-storey classroom block comprising 9 replacement classrooms and 3 new classrooms required due to increased enrolment numbers.

THE BUILD

New library block with modern features, landscaping and playground. Frame consists of part structural steel and part timber. The new block of classrooms consists of all structural steel with high end interior finishes.

New design and build two-storey classroom block. New refurbished Library block with playground facilities.

THE OUTCOME

The new refurbished library was a great success and handed over on programme. The children then used this space during the construction of their new classrooms. The new classrooms comprise of large open spaces allowing the children to make the best of their new learning space. This fantastic new addition to Remuera Primary is now a reality and will support the school on its journey towards becoming an outstanding school serving the local community.
