THE BRIEF

The project was split into four stages, with stages one and two completed prior to the 2018 Kiwifruit season. Form has teamed up with JACE again for Stage 4. When complete, it will make it the largest individual post-harvest site in New Zealand.

THE BUILD

To build one of the largest Kiwifruit processing facilities in the Bay of Plenty region. Specifically designed for seamless processing of fruit in a fully temperature controlled environment. The first of its kind in New Zealand. The completed project will increase JACE industries capacity to ten million trays of Kiwifruit per season. Stage 4 will consist of another technical advanced packhouse and bin curing room, 17 controlled atmosphere stores, 4 additional coolstores and plans also include the commission of a packhouse purpose-built for Gold kiwifruit.

THE OUTCOMES

Utilising relentless management drive, and constantly looking for improvements in construction methodology, project delivery was achieved on time and with minimal defects. This is exceptional, when consideration is given to Covid lockdowns and the ongoing effects on supply chains and labour during the build. This enabled the client to seamlessly add the new facilities capabilities to the existing, with minimal interruptions.
