Following Form’s 2017 completion of Stage 1 of Seeka’s Transcool site redevelopment in Te Puke, Form was engaged once again to complete Stage 2 with the construction of a cutting-edge 1,850m² building housing a coolstore and precooler. With a tight 28-week timeframe to meet kiwifruit delivery requirements, Form was engaged early for buildability advice, early procurement and staged building consent.

The new coolstore, towering over 18m, features a unique design accommodating five-high racking, the first of its kind for Seeka. The structure boasts large concrete foundations, a 300mm thick concrete slab and a structural steel frame. Ground conditions necessitated 192 x 8m deep piles to minimise settlement. The project also involved upgrading pavements, driveways and modifying an existing coolstore for seamless integration.

Form’s strategic sequencing ensured early completion of the precooler and allowed for Seeka’s existing operations to continue uninterrupted. Active communication with the client’s site operations team and collaboration with contractors facilitated the timely commissioning of the new facility.
