Due to the Eastern Busway rapid transit infrastructure project in East Auckland, Ritchies Transport, a prominent bus operator in Auckland, was required to expand their services to accommodate the increased workload. Form Building & Developments were contacted by Frequency, a project management and advisory consultancy that delivers critical infrastructure and built environments across Aotearoa for this vital project.
The scope – Design and Build a facility to house a brand-new fleet of Electric Vehicle buses including offices, workshop and bus wash system to a hard deadline that was non-negotiable. After several workshops, the design was set, contract issued and site was handed over on 5th May 2025 for a 17th October 2025 handover. Form overcame several challenges, including delayed resource consents, 2am concrete pours and a midnight to 6am road closure to deliver the prefabricated admin offices. The Form team went over and above to work within all these restrictions to ensure the end date was met.
As required the facility was operational and ready for Auckland Transport to inspect and green light the first bus to depart at 03:58am on the 2nd of October 2025 ensuring completion on time and to budget.
