THE BRIEF

To construct new buildings and alter existing spaces within the non- operating period, enabling the client to receive and pack fruit during the Kiwi fruit picking season.

THE BUILD

The project consisted of the construction of a new coolstore, an elevated loading area (ELA) and a canopy. To provide scalability, a large effluent field was built, replacing the existing facility. Four coolstores were remodelled to create space for the installation of a new packing line. New canopy structures were erected to protect the bin and loading areas, and car parking facilities were extended. Ablution facilities were also extended to cater for the increased staff during the picking season.

The portion of works relating to the new packing line was a priority due to the forthcoming picking season.

THE OUTCOMES

Through thorough planning and prioritisation all target dates were achieved for the client. Despite the complexities of the changing project environment, the project was delivered successfully and the client was satisfied with the outcomes.
